History and Purpose:
The Village Store was established in 2001.
In addition to its shopping hours (above), another fifteen through twenty hours are spent each week by volunteers sorting, cleaning, testing, straightening, changing, picking up items, and rearranging the store. Although the volunteers decide to which non-profit group their hours will be donated, the truth is that every hour a volunteer works benefits all of the groups involved. The Village Store is the main source of funds for Habitat and has helped build four houses in the last three years in Wimberley.

The Village Store’s manager, Hugh Campbell, has introduced several changes in the store over the past year which have resulted in an exciting shopping experience. If you haven’t been in for a while, you will be amazed at the changes that have been made.
An exciting feature is our Bid Case, where items of exceptional interest or value are placed for one week. A silent auction of these items ends with a verbal auction on each Thursday at 6:30 pm. Some items of interest lately have been an antique “sad iron”, old books, Coca Cola dishes, a Mercedes Benz wrench, a sterling silver collector plate, and a snare drum. There are new items in the Bid Case each week. Come see what treasures are next.

The store continues to be a wonderful source of funding for Habitat and the other non-profit groups participating. We are grateful for the generous donations made every day as well as for the outstanding volunteers who have given generously of their time and efforts. Of course, the Village Store would not be anything without our loyal shoppers. Drop by and say hello to Hugh, volunteer a few hours a week, clean out your closets and donate to the store, and shop a little while you’re there. You will make a difference to Wimberley!
We are grateful to Carol Fleming for the above article, and for her periodic updates to the status of the Village Store.
What Items Can Be Donated?
Anything in good shape that can be sold in the store. No mattresses please!
